Acupuncture is a unique form of healing that utilizes the energetic aspects of health. In the past 3000 years, twelve channels of energy, or qi, have been mapped out. Each channel is named according to the organ passes through and affects. Along these channels are acupuncture points that influence the flow of qi.
When qi is blocked or weak, ill health is observed. By gently tapping sterile needles into the skin at specific acupuncture points, we balance the qi. Interestingly, we can affect one part of the body by needling a totally different part. This is because the channels are all connected. Correcting the qi flow along one channel can strengthen the flow of qi in connecting channels.
Balancing the qi will affect both the physical and emotional aspects of your health. It can relieve pain as well as strengthen organ function. Because we approach the body holistically, working toward one goal often results in resolution of many other aspects of health. For example, when treating back pain, we see sleep and digestion improve as well.
